Bathroom Tubs
Bathtubs
can be great - regular tubs let you soak your worries away,
while whirlpool tubs take a more active approach to
relieving you of your tensions. Beyond these standard types
of tubs, there are other styles, "unusual" styles, at least
to us, that you might not be aware of, but that may be just
right for you! Let's take a look at these:
-
Wooden bathtubs put you in touch
with history, and give you a sense of what a bathing
experience your ancestors had. While a wood bathtub will
provide a unique look to your bathroom, bear in mind
that wood and water do not mix that well, so your wood
tub will not last as long as those made of materials
like acrylic and cast iron.
-
Japanese bathtubs, or Ofuro tubs,
are built for total immersion, all the way up to the
neck. They are twice as large as the average American
tub, and are designed for sitting in. Ofuru bathtubs are
unparalleled for relaxation, and in Japan, form the
centerpiece of the bathing ritual. While they are fairly
difficult to find in the USA (only a few stores, like
Genki USA, carry them), they are well worth it.
-
Roman tubs have some ambiguity
associated with them, as the definition may vary,
depending on whom you ask. According to some, Roman
bathtubs have the faucet in the middle of a long side,
vs. the end, while others say that is an oversized
soaking tub, and yet others say they are above ground
tubs resting on legs or a pedestal. Generally, these
tubs are indeed designed for soaking, and tend to be
larger than your standard tub. They are difficult to
find, as only a few manufacturers make them.
The point is, do not just settle for any old tub - the
bathtub universe is much larger than you would have
imagined, and there is a right one for you, even if it may
seem a bit "unusual".
